Gretna……….Duval Clarence Howell, age 84 of 2404 Brights Road, Gretna died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 18, 1928 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Pierce Thomas (Jake) Howell and Eva Augusta Johnson Howell. Mr. Howell was predeceased by his wife, Nora Lee Riggleman Howell. He was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and was a former employee with the Lane Company. Mr. Howell was an Army Veteran; and enjoyed gardening, and playing music.
He is survived by two sons, Clarence Howell and his wife, Trish of Waynesboro, and Kenneth Howell and his wife, Pam of Hurt; three daughters, Patsy Howell Bell and her husband, Billy of Altavista, Linda Almond of Lynchburg, and Melissa Anderson and her husband, Brian of Gretna; one brother, Otis Howell of Altavista; two sisters, Mallie Hines of Amherst, and Priscilla Spear of Gretna; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
