Sandy Level……….William Dudley Finney, age 83 of 2749 Gravesbridge Road, Sandy Level died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his residence.
Born September 3, 1930 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late James Gladys Finney and Callie Johnston Finney. He was predeceased by two brothers, W.G. Finney and Lenwood Finney. Mr. Finney was a member of Mountain View Christian Church and was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Schrader-Bridgeport; and was a Cattleman and farmer. Mr. Finney enjoyed visiting his friends at Blairs Grocery.
He is survived by his wife, Leola Crews Finney of the residence; two daughters, Barbara F. Towler and her husband, Archie of Monroe, and Nancy F. Adkins of Roanoke; two sisters, Kathleen Finney of Sandy Level, and Lois Spain and her husband, Bill of Richmond; three grandchildren, Stephanie Friend and her husband, Jason, Chris Towler and his wife, Allison, and Carrie Beard and her husband, Rickey; six great-grandchildren, Ashton and Cailyn Friend, Miranda and Emily Towler, and Tyler and Brady Beard.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. David Prillaman. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Post 16 of Lynchburg will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
