Obituary

Blairs………. Douglas Wayne Williams, age 75 of Blairs died Sun, July 15, 2018 at the Veterans Medical Center in Salem.

Born October 20, 1942 in Danville, he was a son of the late Woodrow Harrison Williams and Ruby Suit Williams Terrell.  He was predeceased by his wife, Faye George Williams and his step-father, Harry Terrell.  Doug was of the Baptist faith and was saved by his Lord.  He was a graduate of George Washington High School and was a retired Policeman with the Gretna Police Department.  He was an Army veteran of Vietnam, a former Commander of the Disabled Veterans Chapter 19 and a member of the American Legion.  Mr. Williams enjoyed taking photographs and watching old western and military movies on TV.

He is survived by his wife of five years, Bonnie B. Williams of the residence; two sons, James Williams and wife, Jennifer of Chatham and Michael Williams and wife, Rachel of Nokesville; three grandchildren, Joseph Williams, Samuel Williams and Alexis Williams.

Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Hillcrest Burial Park by Pastor Jonathan White.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, James and Jennifer Williams, 4676 Anderson Mill Road, Chatham.
