Rustburg…….Ernest Douglas "Doug" Tyler, age 86 of Rustburg passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at Greenview Manor in Lynchburg.

Born August 26, 1939 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Frank Lee Tyler and Blanche Leftwich Tyler.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Maurice Tyler and Harry Tyler; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Tyler. Mr. Tyler was a retired insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance. After retirement he worked for Abbott Trails as a tour guide and traveled to all 50 states.  He was a former active member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church having served as Education Director and helped with the food bank delivering food.  Doug was a current member of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.  Mr. Tyler held a Master Gardener certification; and was a huge UNC fan and served as an usher for the basketball games.

He is survived by his wife, Nadeen Wells Hodnett Tyler of the residence; two daughters, Wanda T. Grachan and husband, Bill and Kim T. Bell and husband, Eric; four grandchildren, Tyler Grachan and wife, Kelsey, Kathryn Spencer and husband, Grant, Garrett Bell and Ethan Bell; three great-grandchildren, Navy Grachan, Luke Grachan and Meredith Spencer; two step-children, Ricky A. Hodnett and wife, Angie and Janet H. Smith and husband, Phil; two step-grandchildren, Yancy Moran and wife, Missy and Carly Robinson and husband, Drake; two step-great-grandchildren, Neela Robinson and Rory Robinson; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Tyler.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Mark Grooms. Private burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
