Chatham………Kenneth Douglas "Cookie" Cooke, age 80 of Chatham died Friday, December 9, 2022 at his residence.

Born September 12, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Clarance D. Cooke and Edna Odella Jefferson Cooke.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Newcomb Cooke; and an infant brother, Michael Cooke.  Mr. Cooke was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany during the Vietnam War and he was a member of American Legion Gretna Post 232.  He was a member of Museville Christian Church where he served as deacon, treasurer, and ran the sound system.  Mr. Cooke graduated from Callands High School in 1960, received his Associates Degree from Danville Community College and retired from Goodyear as a Quality System Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hensley Cooke of the residence; his children, Jason Cooke of Altavista; and Jill Tibbs of Altavista; his brother, C.D. Cooke and wife, Jewel of Chatham; his granddaughter, Trinity Tibbs of Altavista; Shirley's daughter, Penny Williams and husband, Jesse; Shirley's grandchildren, Joey Williams and Ben Williams; two nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Museville Christian Church by Pastor Paul Secord and Ted Clifton, Minister.  Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Museville Christian Church and other times will be at the residence.
