Obituary

Altavista………. Dorothy Gaster Martin Moore, age 86 of Altavista formerly of Lynch Station, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Autumn Care Health and Rehab of Altavista.

Born September 3, 1932 in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Sandy James Martin and the late Okie Gaster Lynch Martin.  She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Charlie Birkley Moore for 57 years who predeceased her in 2007.  In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by six brothers, Ballard, Woodrow, Sam, Calvin, Mac, and Jimmy Martin; and three sisters, Sylvia Craft, Goldie Gray, and Gracie Wright.  She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Huddleston; and was employed by the Lane Company and later she was a caregiver to the elderly.  She enjoyed collecting crystal, planting flowers, and working outside.

She is survived by three daughters, Hilda M. Morcom (Donnie) of Forest, Kay M. Morris (Ed) of Danville, and Wanda M. Spencer (Scott) of Ringgold; three sons, Roy Moore (Teresa) of Graham, NC, Charles Moore (Deborah) of Gretna, and Kenneth Moore of Hurt; three sisters, Christine Martin of Chatham, Betty Lou Owen of Danville, and Lyla Gray of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Kristi M. Moser (Jason), D. Craig Morcom II (Katie), Taylor C. Morcom, Casey Moore, Jason Daniel, Ashley Spencer, and Nikki Spencer; and seven great-grandchildren, Jadon Moser, Jacob Moser, Meredith Spencer, Callie Moore, Rowyn Schowiller, Rylan Schowiller, and Emery Morcom.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Wayne Murphy, and Pastor Albert Moser.  Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of God of Prophecy in Huddleston, in care of Alicia Tuck, 14045 Wyatts Way, Bedford, VA 24523.
