Altavista…..Dorothy Craddock Logwood, age 89 of Altavista went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab Center.
Born March 27, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert F. Craddock and Carrie Chism Craddock. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Dempsey (Tommy) Logwood; one brother, Nelson Craddock; two sisters, Katherine Shields and Argene Turner; and a granddaughter, April Rowland. Mrs. Logwood was a member of the Altavista Church of Christ and was a home maker. She enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by two sons, Morris Logwood and wife, Jean of Altavista and Glenn Logwood and wife, Mary of Lynchburg; one daughter, Nancy Rowland and husband, Henry of Gretna; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Holland and husband, Greg of Lynchburg, Rebecca Caldwell and husband, James of Thaxton, Brian Logwood and wife, Tara of Richmond and David Rowland, Jr. and fiancée' Amanda Lanning of Gretna; 7 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Joyce Simpson of Gretna.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lory Brafford, Minister and Rev. Barry Cundiff. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, September 3, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Henry Rowland, 6365 Deer View Road, Gretna.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and they have a special thank you to Autumn Care for the excellent care that Mrs. Logwood received during her stay there.
