Gretna………Dorothy Merricks Johnson age 92 of Gretna died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born July 20, 1921 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Percy Bennett Merricks and Harriet Martin Merricks. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Herman Johnson. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a home maker. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed flowers, flower arrangements, crocheting, and helping others.
She is survived by two sons, Benny Johnson and his wife, Brenda of Gretna, and Ronnie Johnson of Danville; one daughter, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Mark Covey of Manakin-Sabot; one sister, Ruby Mason of Gretna; three grandchildren, Norman Johnson, R.L. Johnson, and Heather Johnson Sevinsky; and three great-grandchildren, Nathan Sevinsky, Ava Sevinsky, and Lynnlee Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Brenda Johnson, 3421 Rockford School Road, Gretna.
