Pittsville…….Dorothy Mae Tuck Hines, age 92 of Pittsville died Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Autumn Care of Altavista.

Born May 20, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Zack Monroe Tuck and Maxie Mauld Neal Tuck. She was predeceased by her husband, Anderson Jackson "AJ" Hines; one daughter, Jo Ann Betterton; and two grandsons, Joey Brumfield and Lafe McCluster; four brothers, George Tuck, Calvin Tuck, Thomas Tuck and Monroe Fox; and three sisters, Annie Tucker, Elsie Tuck and Hazel McDaniel. Mrs. Hines was a member of Summersett Baptist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed shopping, going to the beach and she loved to cook for her family.

She is survived by four sons, Wayne Hines and wife, Juanita of Hurt, Tim Hines and wife, Tracey of Chatham, Donald Hines of Gretna and Ronald Hines and wife, Angie of Gretna; three daughters, Linda Goad of Lynchburg, Doris Brumfield and husband, Andy of Pittsville and Sheila McCluster and husband, Ronnie of Gretna; one step-daughter, Brenda Clay of Chatham; a special niece, Hazel Tuck of Gretna; special family member who was like a son, Jesse Tate of Winston Salem, NC; and 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Andy Brumfield, 5404 Brights Rd. Pittsville, Virginia 24139.
