Danville……….Dorothy Mayhew Dishmond, age 85 of Danville died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Bud Mayhew and Mattie Sue Saunders Mayhew. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jack Dishmond; six brothers, William Mayhew, Clarence Mayhew, Eddie Mayhew, Harry Mayhew, Raymond Mayhew, and Carroll "Pete" Mayhew; and two sisters, Catherine Mayhew, and Laura Susie Doolin. She was on the staff at Danville Regional Medical Center, and after retirement in 1989 she volunteered at the hospital. Mrs. Dishmond was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Danville Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Eddie Hobbs of Pelham, NC.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Gretna Burial Park by the Rev. Dr. Lynn Marstin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her niece, Ruth Hedrick, 1585 Lotus Drive, Gretna.
