Hurt…..Doris Elliott Short, age 79 of Hurt died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her residence.

Born June 9, 1939 in Nottoway County, she was a daughter of the late Leland Elliott and Christine Yeatts Elliott.  She was also predeceased by a son, Ralph Lee Short.  Mrs. Short was a retired Inspector with Klopman Mills and was a member of Motley Baptist Church.  She enjoyed traveling and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, William (Dickie) Short of the residence; four sons, William Richard Short, Jr., Robert Wayne Short, Michael Ray Short and Randy Leland Short; two sisters, Mavis Holloway and Barbara Ann Watson; five grandchildren, William Richard III, Angela Renae Short, Kelly Nichols, Leigh Henderson and Sabrina Henderson; eight great-grandchildren, Macie Jeanette Short, Mallory Parker Short, Tristan Yeatts, Tyler Yeatts, Taylor Yeatts, Trista Yeatts, Gavin Riley Todt and Kenadi Todt; and special friends, JoAnn and Mike Weeks.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Altavista Memorial Park by Pastor Whit Mayton.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
