Altavista………. Doris Jeanette Blevins, age 88 of Altavista died Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Tate Springs Health and Rehab in Lynchburg.

Born August 24, 1935 in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley Henderson Nichols and Ethel Mae East Nichols.  She was predeceased by her husband, Roy "Bud" Blevins; one son, Michael O'Dell; two sisters, Mary Crouch and Dorothy Mae Nichols; and two brothers, Alfred Nichols and Cecil Nichols.  Mrs. Blevins retired from the Lane Company.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell O'Dell, Sr. of Hurt, Bruce O'Dell, Jr. and wife, Gay of Maryland and Tony O'Dell and wife, Shelly of Tennessee; three daughters, Sandy Day and husband, Jimmy of Maryland, Debbie Diamond of Maryland and Anita Davis of Hurt; one sister, Lois Dudley of Altavista; a sister-in-law, Rachel Nichols; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per her request there will be no public service.

The family would like to give a special thank you to nurse Missy and the rest of the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their love and care.
