Hurt...........Janie Doris Bennett, age 85 of 7181 Renan Road, Hurt died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab Center. Born December 16, 1928 in the Whittles community of Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Coleman B. Bailess and Mary Garland Worsham Bailess. She retired from Piedmont Manufacturing which is now Schrader-Bridgeport. Mrs. Bennett enjoyed canning, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Roy H. Bennett of the residence; one son, Mike Bennett of Hurt; one brother, Larry Bailess of Hurt; three sisters, Clara Stump of Hurt, Hazel Dowdy of Hurt, and Virginia Starkey of Hurt; two grandchildren, Jamie Bennett and his wife, Susan, and Justin Bennett and his wife, Melinda; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn Bennett, Tristan Bennett, Morgan Roach, Autumn Roach, and Emily Gibson. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Matthew Speck. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
