Daleville, VA……….Donald Alvis Yeatts, Sr., age 88 of Daleville, VA died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

Don was born to the late Walter and Josephine Yeatts in Gretna, VA on January 30, 1934 where he resided until high school graduation. He graduated from Newport News shipbuilding and Dry Dock Apprentice School in 1957. He then worked at Amoco Oil Refinery for 8 years before returning to the Shipyard until retiring in 1992. He worked in quality control and spent the last 20 years traveling to inspect other companies making equipment for the shipyard.

He met his wife of 66 years, Charlotte Clark Yeatts while she was attending nursing school. They lived and raised their children in Newport News until moving to the Glebe Retirement Community in 2006.

Don and Charlotte loved traveling the country, square dancing with their friends from 1972 until he became ill, attending church throughout their marriage because of their belief and love of their Lord and Savior, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and researching family roots.  Mr. Yeatts was a member of the Gretna Masons.

Along with his wife he is survived by his daughter Donna Yeatts Brown (Leonard) of Roanoke, VA, son, Donald A. Yeatts, Jr. (Mary) of Newport News, VA, grandson Lenny Brown (Shauntel) of Raphine, VA and great granddaughter Serena. Also survived by his brother Larry Yeatts (Lyndell) of Hollywood, MD, sister Inez Irby of Gretna, VA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Along with parents he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Bobby Mason and Paul Irby, nephew Jason Yeatts, niece Robbin Porter, other extended family members and Charlotte's parents Ralph and Arah Clark and her sister and brother-in-law Jeanne and Jackie Watts.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel, Gretna, VA by Rev. Danny Barham.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden, Gretna, VA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Troutville, VA by Rev. Danny Barham.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Troutville, VA.
