Gretna……….Sam Dennis Brumfield, age 79 of Brights passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his home.
Born October 13, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Dewey Winchester Brumfield and Roberta Worley Brumfield. He was predeceased by a brother, Herman Brumfield; and a brother-in-law, Euell Hamblett. Dennis was a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, taking care of his cows and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by two sisters, Alice B. Scott and her husband, Louie of Ridgeway and Olvis (Vene) Hamblett of Rocky Mount; a sister-in-law, Ynell T. Brumfield of Roanoke; two nieces, Linda Arnold and her husband, Doug of Roanoke and Tammy Shorter and her husband, Rickey of Boones Mill; two nephews, Dale Hamblett and his wife, Melissa of Rocky Mount and Tony Scott of Ridgeway; great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Elder Raymond Goad. Burial will follow in Weatherford Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
