Altavista…..Delma Ridgeway Towler, age 83 of Altavista died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Altavista.
Born September 8, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Ridgeway and Nellie Dalton Ridgeway. She was twice married first to the late, Clyde William Barbour and then to Lorenzia Towler. She was predeceased by one son, Otha Barbour, one brother, Kenneth Ridgeway, and a grandson, Harold Lee Barbour. Mrs. Towler was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and was a retired employee of BGF Industries. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters, walking, flowers, going to church and her dog "Sugar".
She is survived by two sons, Robert Barbour and wife, Hazel of Hurt, and Clarence Barbour and wife, Cecile of Gretna; three daughters, Madeline Clark and husband, Jerry of Lynchburg, Kathy Brumfield of Gretna and Linda Langford of Hurt; one brother, James Ridgeway of Gretna; one sister, Margaret Davis of Altavista; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Altavista Church of Christ by Larry Evans, Minister and Lory Brafford, Minister. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Hazel Barbour, 101 Hillside Drive, Hurt.
