Hurt……….Delma Arthur Scruggs, age 79 of Hurt died Thursday, April 18, 2024 at her residence.

Born November 16, 1944 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Adah Edward Arthur and Eva Mason Arthur.  She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Lee Scruggs and a grandson, Shawn Thacker.  Delma was a member of Midway Baptist Church and she retired from Klopman Mills after 44 years of service.

Delma was an antique collector.  She enjoyed reading, shopping, the beach and going to yard sales.  Delma was known for being helpful and giving candid advice and opinions, which she was loved for.  Delma loved spending time with family and loving friends who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Dalton and husband, Gary of Gretna and Janet Thacker and husband, Kelly of Altavista;  one sister, Doris Rowland of Hurt; four grandchildren, Melissa Russell (Ethan), Rachel Overstreet and (Zack), Amber Wingfield (Tyler), and Michael Thacker; three great-grandchildren, Alayna, Mia, and Landon; one sister-in-law, Betty Andrews; and four special nieces, Cheryl Rowland, Madelyn Meadows, Kaye Bagby, and Kathy Bottoms.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Midway Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
