Danville...........Delano Roosevelt Watlington, age 84 of Danville passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his residence.

Born February 28, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late James Ramsey Watlington, Sr. and Onie Shelhorse Watlington.  He was predeceased by one brother, James Watlington, Jr.; and three sisters, Ida Johnson, Jane Smith and Marjorie Creasy.  Mr. Watlington was a National Guard veteran and retired from Norfolk Sothern as a chief clerk.

He is survived by his wife, Betty McBride Watlington of the residence; two daughters, Beth Woodward and husband, David of Charlottesville and Julie Scott and husband, Adam of Danville; one son, Charles Watlington and wife, Carey of Queens, NY; one sister, Gladys Marshall and husband, John; seven grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Benjamin, Ethan, Onie, Dolly and Loretta; and four great-grandchildren, Avery, Olivia, Sawyer and Jacob.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank special caregivers, Queen Martin, Nikki Graves and the staff of Commonwealth Hospice for their love and care.
