Roanoke…..Deborah English Mayhew, age 58 of 4530 Windy Gap Drive, Roanoke died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Friendship Health & Rehab in Roanoke.
Born September 26, 1952 in Danville, she was a daughter of Curtis Clay English and Jettie Adkins English of Chatham. She was a member of and taught Sunday School for over twenty-five years at the First Baptist Church of Roanoke. She was an avid runner and completed the Boston Marathon in 1999. She was employed as a courtroom deputy clerk for the US District Court.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, E. Glenn Mayhew of the residence; two sons, Nathaniel G. Mayhew and Mark W. Mayhew of Roanoke; two brothers; Rodney English and wife Vicky of Appomattox and Patrick English of Chatham.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Roanoke in the Faith Chapel by Dr. Bryan Smith and Dr. Bill Ashford. Burial will follow in the Red Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna. Mrs. Mayhew will be transported to Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 318 Church Ave. SW, Roanoke where the family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011.
