Gretna……….David "Buck" Elson Talbott, age 87 of Gretna died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1929 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Pearl Elson Talbott and Myrtle Hendrix Talbott. Mr. Talbott was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and attended Gretna Christian Church. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a former truck driver for Central Oil for 45 years. Mr. Talbott was a member and organizer of the Blue Grass Gospel Train for over 26 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 232 having served as chaplain and service officer. He enjoyed playing music, yard work, hunting, fishing and skeet shooting.
He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Susie Johnson Talbott of the residence; one brother, Alvin Talbott and wife, Thelma of Gretna; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. Albert Moser. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
