Gretna……….David Andrew Lilly, age 67 of Gretna, died Sunday, December 26, 2021 at UVA Medical Center.

Born December 19, 1954 in West Virginia, he was a son of Phyllis Young Lilly and the late Rev. William David "Bill" Lilly.  David was the town manager for the Town of Gretna; and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna where he served on the audio/visual team and as a Deacon.  He was the President of Gretna Youth Sports for many years; and he enjoyed boating on Smith Mountain Lake, making knives, playing the drums, spending time with family, and coaching.  Mr. Lilly was appointed by the Governor of Virginia in 2016 to Selective Service for the Military.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dale Tosh Lilly of the residence; one son, William David Lilly of Lynchburg; one daughter, Jessica Lilly Godfrey and husband, Mark Ian Godfrey of Dublin; one foster grandson; and one sister, Jennifer Swart and husband, Mark of Altavista.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Bob Ballance, Rev. Michael Turner and William David Lilly.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends at the residence of his wife, Dale Lilly and at the residence of his mother, Phyllis Lilly.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Gretna Youth Sports, P.O. Box 822 Gretna, VA 24557.
