Altavista……David Lee Hughes, age 73 of Altavista, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his residence.

Born October 14, 1944, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Edward G. Hughes and Avana Burdette Hughes.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Onida Doss Hughes; and ten brothers and sisters.  David was a former employee of Falwell Truck Body Shop.  He was a big football fan; and enjoyed his pets, watching old westerns on TV and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a step-son, Andy Thruston and wife, Denise of Huddleston; a step-daughter, Ruth Ferrell and husband, Billy of Hurt; special friend, Robert; close neighbors, Eloise, Dot and Regina; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
