Gretna……..Woodrow "David" Cook, age 75 of Gretna passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born August 11, 1950 Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Cook and Viola Mayhew Cook.  He was predeceased by one brother, Danny Cook.  Mr. Cook was a U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion Gretna Post 232.  He retired from Schrader Bridgeport; and loved watching car racing and wrestling.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Simpson Cook of the residence; two daughters, Susan Cook of Altavista and Lisa Cook of Gretna; a nephew, Warren Cook; and special friends, Darlene Ramsey, Margie Shelton and Jeff Shelton.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2026 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Pastor Joe Glass and Lynnie Doss. Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.
