Forest…….David Coleman Bobbitt, age 82 of Forest died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born May 12, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Henry Coleman Bobbitt and Virgie Barker Bobbitt. Mr. Bobbitt was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a US Air Force veteran. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as the Manager of the Roanoke Tower; he was also the President of Old Dominion Realty Co., was a real estate appraiser, and President of Old Stone Mortgage Co. Mr. Bobbitt had a passion for flying, traveling and working on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Clay Bobbitt of the residence; two sons, Michael Bobbitt and wife, Karen of Glen Allen, and Mark Bobbitt of Lynchburg; two sisters, Pearl Campbell of Penhook and Sharlean Ogden of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, Ian Bobbitt and wife, Lisa and Jennifer Krauss and husband, Matt; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Bobbitt, Emma Krauss and Coleman Krauss; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Ronnie Simpson. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his dear cousin, Shirley Hammond & her husband John, 211 Washington Street, Gretna.
