Hurt………Danny Elmo Shelton, age 72 of Hurt died Friday, February 17, 2023 at Centra Specialty Hospital of Lynchburg.

Born April 10, 1950 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Frank Elmer Shelton and Ruby Brumfield Shelton.  Mr. Shelton retired from Southside Corporation.  He enjoyed golf, softball, and watching football.

He is survived by one son, Lance Shelton and wife, Dana of Rustburg; one sister, Brenda Thompson of Hurt; two grandchildren, Chelsea Dillard and husband, Joey and Sommer Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Lily Ray and Linkin Dillard; a niece, Angela Francis and husband, Paul, Jr.; a nephew, Tim Thompson and wife, Rhonda; a great-nephew, Roy Morgan; and two great-nieces, Hannah Abbott & husband, Johnathan and Leah Boley and husband, Christopher.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his sister, Brenda Thompson, 240 Shula Drive, Hurt, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center.
