Obituary

Altavista……….Danny Jones Clay, age 67 of Altavista died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born October 4, 1951 in Halifax County, he was a son of the late Dennis Thomas Clay and Addie Mae Jones Clay.  Danny was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Danville Community College and was a retired employee of Abbott Nutritional with over twenty years of service.  He enjoyed NASCAR, working on his vehicles, and listening to his friends talk.  He will be sorely missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Catron Clay of the residence; one daughter, Shari Searcy Fowley of Keene; one brother, Jerry Clay and wife, Martha of Danville; one sister, Joyce Moorefield of Gretna; son-in-law, Daniel Fowley III of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Daniel Fowley IV of Big Sky, MT, Meridyth Fowley of Keene, and Keelin Fowley of Keene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Mulberry Baptist Church by Rev. David Hanks and Rev. Dennis Nichols.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Mulberry Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times will be at the residence of his sister, Joyce Moorefield, 3393 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the UVA Emily Couric Cancer Center and the Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
