Gretna…...Dallas Frazier Riddle of Gretna went to be with Lord and his daughter Sandra on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born May 20, 1927 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Dewey Lee Riddle and Mary Elizabeth Pearson Riddle. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Lee Riddle. Dallas was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. He was a Merchant Marines Veteran during World War II and an Army Veteran during Korea. Dallas was a member of American Legion Post 232 and a Life Member of the VFW. Dallas was a contractor before he started RACO in 1975. He ran RACO until he sold it in 2008 where he remained as Chairman of the Board. With RACO he worked in seven different states installing telephone cables. Once RACO even went to the Virgin Islands after a hurricane to help put the lines in place. He was a great quail and pheasant hunter and took many trips to North Dakota with his buddies. Dallas also went to Alaska and other places to fish Salmon. He loved to travel, fish and hunt. He also loved his home and was always ready to come back home to family and to work on the farm and the hay fields. He was a dear husband and father that will truly be missed. He loved people and will love meeting people in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lee Ramsey Riddle of the residence; two brothers, Gene Riddle and wife, Charlotte of South Boston and Phillip Riddle and wife, Danese of Rustburg; two sisters, Betty Jane R. Hammock and husband, Lindy of Chatham and Claudia Breland and husband Ben of Virginia Beach; and a son-in-law, Danny Riddle of Penhook.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Gretna by Rev. Jonathan Hilliard. Entombment will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
