Hurt……….Curtis Sampson Towler, age 87 of Hurt died Friday, January 10, 2020 at his residence.
Born May 12, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Moses Sampson Towler and Mary Lucy Matherly Towler. He was predeceased by four sisters, Gladys Osborne, Sallie Calloway, Barbara Kendrick, and Ruby Smith; and two infant brothers, Billy Wayne Towler, and Gordon Wyatt Towler. Mr. Towler was an Army Veteran of Korea, a member of Midway Baptist Church, and he retired from Piedmont Manufacturing. He loved rabbit hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Towler of the residence; two daughters, Nancy Towler of Chatham and Susan Perry and husband, Steve of Concord, NC; one brother, Archie Towler and wife, Barbara of Monroe; and three grandchildren, Amanda Perry, Philip Perry, and Sam Perry all of Concord, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centra Hospice.
