Obituary

Chatham……….Harvey Curtis Wells, Sr., age 91 of Chatham died Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence.
Born May 27, 1924 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Charlie Newton Oakes and his wife, Sallie Frank Oakes. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Wood Wells; his birth parents, William Harvey Wells and Rose Ethel Amos Wells; three brothers, Aubrey Wells, Hugh Wells and Jack Wells; and three sisters, Evelyn Slayton, Inez Gammons and Beulah Wright. Mr. Wells was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren where he served as church treasurer for over 60 years, a Deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a farmer and an Army Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Nelson Wells and his wife, Yvonne of Chatham and Harvey Curtis Wells, Jr. and his wife, Lori of Chatham; four grandchildren, Misty Marsh, Stephanie Bowling, Adrienne Wells and Jill Wells; and a great-grandchild, Kelsey Bowling.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his care givers, Cindy Roach and Ramona Robinson.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren by Pastor Leo Johnson and Rev. Curtis English. Burial with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
