Hurt……….Connie Lee Hutcherson Jones, age 79 of Hurt passed away peacefully  Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital after a courageous 11 year battle with Alzheimer's.

Born July 20, 1945 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Hutcherson and Susie Doris Worsham Hutcherson.  She was predeceased by one son, Richard Wayne Jones; one brother, Richard Edward Hutcherson; five half-brothers, Douglas Hutcherson, Curtis Hutcherson, Junior Hutcherson, George Hutcherson and Bill Hutcherson; and one half-sister, Hilda Buchanan.

Connie retired from Piedmont Manufacturing/Schrader-Bridgeport with over 42 years of service.  She had many furry friends over the years.

God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered "come with me", with tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away, although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay, a golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Until we meet again you will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Reginald "Reggie" Wayne Jones of the residence who was constantly by her side as her caregiver; one son, Randy Jones and wife, Jeanie of Gretna; one sister, Edna Ferguson and husband, Gary of Madison Heights; one half-sister, Doris Mays of Danville; a sister-in-law, Dianne Hutcherson of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Zachary Jones and wife, Liz of Colorado and Travis Jones (Morgan) of Kansas; one great-grandchild, Gwen Bee Jones; two brothers, Marvin Hutcherson of Gretna and Roy Hutcherson of Long Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following her wishes there will be no public service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Diabetes Association.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Lynchburg General Hospital for their love and kindness shown to Connie in her final days.
