Altavista…..Connie Lou Holland, age 72 of 156 Doss St. Altavista died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at her residence.
Born January 22, 1943 in West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Jesse James Owens, Sr. and Anne Pauline Winters Owens. She was predeceased by her husband, James Addison Holland and one grandson, Daryn Tyler Hackworth. Mrs. Holland was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and was a home maker. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, yard work and her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, David Strouth and his wife, Clarsie of Altavista; four daughters, Melinda Wilson and her husband, David of Altavista, Stacy Pully and her husband, Mike of Spout Spring, Debbie Myers and her husband, Tra of Huddleston and Teresa Foust and her husband of Mobile, AL; one brother, Jesse Owens, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Hurt; six sisters, Brenda Owens of Lynchburg, Hester Goff of Altavista, Garnett Arnold of Hurt, Bonnie Houser of Bluff City, TN, Dreama Harkleroad of Bluff City, TN and Geneva Shember of Bad Axe, MI; 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in Altavista Memoria Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
