Gretna…..Clyde "C.T." Thomas Connor, Jr., age 80 of Gretna died Friday, August 26, 2016 at his residence.
Born January 22, 1936 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Clyde Thomas Conner, Sr. and Rose Carrie Bosiger Conner. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carla Jean Connor. Mr. Connor was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church where he was a former S.S. teacher and choir member. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from UPS after 30 years of service. Mr. Connor was a former member of the Gretna Rescue Squad for 13 years; and an American Heart and Red Cross Instructor. He was also an EVOC Instructor and training officer. He was a member of the EMT state winner in 1991 and 1993. Mr. Connor enjoyed gardening, yard work, reading, camping, and volunteering for the Pittsylvania County Food Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia "Pat" Updike Connor of the residence; three daughters, Carmen Connor of North Carolina; Sherri Connor of Gretna and Cristy Henderson of Dry Fork; one sister, Peggy Hensley and husband, J.T. of Altavista; four grandchildren, Rodney Henderson, Rosa Henderson, Craig Burgess and Jessica Burgess; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Glenn Dillion. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at Greenfield Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
