Gretna……….Clyde Swanson Jacobs, Sr., age 79 of Gretna died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Westminster-Canterbury in Lynchburg.
Born January 26, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Grayson Wilford Jacobs, Sr. and Janie Rowland Jacobs. He was a retired supervisor with Klopman and an Air Force Veteran. He was a member and former deacon at Spring Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Peak Jacobs of the residence; two sons, Anthony Jacobs and wife, Callie of Hurt and Clyde Jacobs, Jr. of Gretna; one daughter, Gwen Pope and husband, Eddie of Gretna; three brothers, Curtis Jacobs and wife, Nancy of Newport News, G.W. Jacobs and wife, Emily of Gretna and Gerald Jacobs and wife, Barbara of Lynchburg; three sisters, Peggy Brooks and husband, Brian of Newport News, Cynthia Halstead and husband, Mark of FL and Christine Puckett and husband, Al of Concord; three grandchildren, Jonathan Pope and fiancée, Ashleigh, Denise Adams and husband, Chris, and Grayson Jacobs; and five great-grandchildren, Alashaj Pope, Zavaan Pope, Kylie Pope, Cadence Adams and Caileb Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin and Ronnie Simpson. Burial will follow at New Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
