Chatham……….Clarence Dallas "C.D." Cooke, age 87 of Chatham, VA passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his residence.

He was born April 17, 1935 to the late Clarence D. Cooke and Edna Odella Jefferson Cooke.  He was predeceased by two brothers,  Kenneth Douglas Cooke and Michael Cooke.

Mr. Cooke was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday School secretary and other various roles. Mr. Cooke served in the U.S. Army National Guard; and he retired from Laramore Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator and foreman.  He also enjoyed farming tobacco and raising cattle.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jewel Hedrick Cooke of the residence; two sons, Timothy D. Cooke and wife, Wanda of Gretna and Ronnie L. Cooke and wife, Davenie of Gretna; two grandchildren, Brittnie Cooke Carter and husband, Kyle and Tanner L. Cooke and fiancée, Saige Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Owen Carter and Ellery Carter; one sister-in-law, Shirley H. Cooke; and a niece, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Piney Fork Baptist Church by Rev. Tyler R. Daniels and Rev. David Turbyfill.  Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
