Gretna……Christopher "Chris" Wayne Bailess, age 52 of Gretna died Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his residence.

Born May 19, 1968 in Danville, he was a son of John Wayne Bailess and significant other, Tammy Owen of Gretna, and Emma Jean Roach Terry.  He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Allison Durham; and a father-in-law, Ray Edwards.  Chris worked in construction; and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the boys play ball.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Holly Edwards Bailess of Gretna; one son, Tucker Bailess of Gretna; two sisters, Kim Bailess of Lynchburg, and Kelly Bailess of Lynchburg; mother-in-law, Nancy Edwards of Danville; and two special nephews, Ray Durham of Chatham, and Noah Durham of Chatham.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 St. Andrews United Methodist Church Cemetery by Barbara Hubbard, Minister.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 10164 East Gretna Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
