Hurt……….Charlie Board Rice, age 80 of 407 Prospect Road, Hurt died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his residence.
Born September 11, 1930 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late John Rice and Luttie Burnette Rice. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Harmon (Dale) Barksdale; seven brothers; and four sisters. Mr. Rice retired from the Lane Company after 49 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, and was a life member of the Altavista Life Saving Crew and was an active member for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Roberts Rice of the residence; a son, Gary Rice of Hurt; and a daughter, Pat Barksdale of Hurt.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Green Lawn Cemetery by Rev. Carlton Gunter.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
