Gretna……….Charlie Pickeral, age 83 of Gretna died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the residence of his son.
Born May, 4, 1933 he was a son of the late Harry Edgar Pickral, Sr. and Margaret Mills Pickral. He was predeceased by his wife, Esterlyne Schwitzerlett Pickeral and three brothers, H. Edgar Pickral, Jr., Judson Pickral and Bobby Pickral, Sr. Mr. Pickeral was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and was an Army Veteran of Korea. He was a former employee at the Lane Company for 47 years and following his retirement he worked for Custer Ice Service for 10 years. Mr. Pickeral enjoyed, hunting, especially rabbit hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Harry Pickeral and wife, Vicki of Hurt and Gary Pickeral and wife, Sandra of Gretna; three brothers, Oscar Pickral and wife, Nellie of Gretna, Gerald Pickral and wife, Nancy of Chatham and Reuben Pickral and wife, Jackie of Chatham; three sisters, Betty Rowles and husband, Larry of Gretna, Becky Shelton of Gretna and Shirley Shelton and husband, Jack of Gretna; six grandchildren, Gary "Burt" Pickeral, Jr. and wife, Brooke, Jason Pickeral and Luke Pickeral, Melissa Smith, Jessica Barnett and Eugene Gregory; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services with Military Honors by Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland, Rev. Curtis English and Elder Troy Simpson.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Becky Shelton, 206 Center Street, Gretna.
