Altavista…..Charlie Ray Mason, age 69 of Altavista died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Gretna Health & Rehab.
Born October 11, 1942 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Eugene Thomas Mason and Hattie Pribble Mason. He was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Arthur Mason and two sisters, Ruby Austin and Margaret McDaniel. Charlie was a former employee of David's Gulf in Altavista. He enjoyed cars especially 55 and 57 Chevy's and NASCAR racing.
He is survived by two brothers, James E. Mason of Altavista and Roy Lee Mason of Bedford; one sister, Marion Mason Swain of Altavista; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Green Lawn Cemetery by Rev. Tim Lane and Rev. Jim Critchley.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his nephew, Larry Swain, 3589 Grit Road, Hurt, VA. The family suggests memorials be made in Charlie's name to Colbert-Moran Funeral Home to help with his funeral expenses.
