Gretna…….Charlie Hart Ashworth, Sr., age 83 of Gretna died Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born July 14, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Hart Reynolds Ashworth and Lelia Younger Ashworth Dalton.  He was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Gene Ashworth; step-father, Harold Dalton; and a step-brother, Ted Dalton. Mr. Ashworth worked with John W. Daniel and English Construction for over 43 years. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Pruitt Ashworth of the residence; one son, Hart Ashworth and Heidi Wolfe of Hurt; one daughter, Susan Ashworth of Gretna; one brother, Dennis Dalton & wife, Sandra of Gretna; two grandchildren, Megan Fretwell and husband, Jeff of Gretna and Jonathan Ashworth of Hurt; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Aubrey.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
