Altavista………Charles Wayne Boley, age 77 of Altavista died Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Rocky Mount Health and Rehab.

Born July 19, 1946 in Campbell County, he was a son of Charles Claiborne Boley and Ethel Childress Boley. Charles married the love of his life, Anita Dalton Boley on July 11, 1963. He was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Dalton and Margie Chronister. Mr. Boley worked as a supervisor and general foreman at the Lane Company for many years and was a retired plant manager for Sam Moore Furniture. He was a Navy Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He coached numerous youth league teams throughout the years and some of his greatest memories were coaching Scottie and Bryan. Charles was also an avid golfer and runner.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Anita Dalton Boley of the residence; one son, Mark Boley of Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Crystal Boley Neal and husband, Lee of Lynch Station and Lisa Boley Thurman and husband, Jimmy of Altavista; one brother, Rudy Boley and wife, Louise of Collinsville; four grandchildren, Justin Neal of Lynchburg, Krissy Neal of Lynch Station, Scottie Gillespie and fiancée, Morgan Burcham of Burnet, TX and Bryan Gillespie and wife, Paris of Hurt; four great-grandchildren, Brynley Neal, Brantley Neal, Ayvah Gillespie and Aceyn Gillespie; and special friends, Donna Hall, Phillip Saunders, Holly Saunders, Ivy Saunders, Tammie Hodges and Charlotte Lane.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Bobby Brumfield. Burial with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Altavista Fire Department or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
