Gretna……….Cecile Parker Brumfield, age 69 of 24044 US Highway 29, Gretna died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at her residence.
Born March 12, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Richard (Dick) Parker and Minnie Bowen Parker. Mrs. Brumfield was predeceased by three brothers, Marion Parker, Clayton Parker and Wallace Parker; and two sisters, Estelle Moore and Eva Gibson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was a retired employee of Klopman. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had a passion for the Washington Redskins.
She is survived by her husband, Acie Brumfield of the residence; one son, Shawn Brumfield of Chatham; three daughters, Cheryl Pruitt and husband, Jesse of Chatham, Connie Hall and husband, Joe of Hurt and Christie Dawson and husband, Matt of Blairs; two brothers, Herman Parker of Java, and Paul Parker of Danville; one sister, Betty Sue Tuck of Penhook; 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Brumfield and Rev. Lenn Lloyd. Burial will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
