Chatham……Cecil Watson Smith, age 77 of Chatham died Monday, May 11, 2020 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born February 17, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Edward Purcell Watson and Wilmoth Irby Watson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Guy Edward Smith; one brother, Calvin Watson; one great-grandchild, Jordan Michael Smith; and three sisters, Ava Dawson, Jane Falls, and Fannie Moore.  Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John's Pentecostal Holiness Church and she was a home maker.  She loved flat footing, listening to music, eating sweets, and riding around.

She is survived by one son, Alfred Smith of Roanoke; one daughter, Tabitha Hale and husband, Michael of Bedford; one brother, Alvis Watson and wife, Jean of Hurt; three sisters, Phyllis LaBrie of Lynchburg, Mabel Cross of Tennessee, and Betty Wilborn of Rustburg; four grandchildren; and special friends, Leon Davis and family of Climax.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Altavista Memorial Park by Minister, Brian Ashworth.
