Hurt……….Cecil (Bill) Calvin Shelton, age 81 of Hurt died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his residence.
Born July 11, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late, Henry Foster Shelton and Mary Betty Wilson Shelton. He was predeceased by a sister, Ethel S. Campbell and two brothers, Jim Shelton and Henry Ramsey Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a retired Supervisor with the Lane Company and was an Army veteran of Korea. He was a Deacon, Trustee, and member of the choir at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed farming and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Woodson Shelton of the residence; one brother, Paul A. Shelton of Lynch Station; three sisters, Myrtle Rowland of Gretna, Jeanie Spray of Altavista, and Marie Bibee of Hurt.
Graveside services with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Altavista Memorial Park by Rev. Matt Speck.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
