Catherine Brooks Thompson

Gretna……….Julia Catherine Brooks Thompson, age 83 of 676 Straightstone Road, Gretna, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab in Altavista
Born November 11, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Dave Brooks and Mattie Keatts Brooks. She was predeceased by her husband, James William Thompson, Sr.; two brothers, Thomas C. Brooks, and James Brooks; and three sisters, Alice Brooks, Dolley Brooks, and Virginia Wilson. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church, worked as a care taker, and was a home maker. She enjoyed gardening and looking after her family.
She is survived by two sons, J.W. Thompson of Gretna, and Bill Thompson and wife, Teresa of Lynchburg; one daughter, Peggy Clay and husband, Herbert of Gretna; two brothers, Marion Brooks of Gretna, and Nat Brooks, of Gretna; one sister, Florence Lee Brooks of Hurt; two grandchildren, Jason Clay and Kimberly McKeldin; and one great-grandchild, Abigail McKeldin
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Mulberry Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Townsend and Rev. Dennis Nichols. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
