Chatham……..Catherine Ann Towler Bowles, age 84 of Chatham died Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born March 23, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Bernice Hartwell Towler and Carrie Belle Dalton Towler. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles David Bowles; and one brother, Garland Towler. Mrs. Bowles was a 1958 graduate of Climax High School, a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren, a retired employee of Tultex and a homemaker. She was also a beekeeper of many years.
She is survived by two sons, David Bowles & fiancée, Lisa Boryk of Chatham and Joesph Bowles and wife, Malinda of Chatham; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Tommy and Thomasina Bowles of Harvest, Alabama, Patrick and Barbara France of Penhook and Brenda Bowles of Martinsville; and two grandchildren, Jacob Bowles and Megan Bowles.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Randy Parker, Minister. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Climax Volunteer Fire Department, 4166 Climax Road, Chatham, VA 24531 or to Gretna Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Gretna, VA 24557.
