Java……….Carroll Jennings, age 94 of Java passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at Chatham Health and Rehab.

Born June 24, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Hubert Jennings and Lena Brown Jennings.  He was predeceased by one brother, William Jennings; and four sisters, Lora Shelton, Mary Dalton, Frances Crews and Ann Barksdale.  Mr. Jennings was a U.S. Air Force veteran and the owner/operator of Jennings Garage.  He was a founding member of Riceville/Java Volunteer Fire Department having served since 1965.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Mays Jennings of the residence; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the Jennings Family Cemetery by Rev. William Thompson.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Riceville/Java Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 129, Java, VA 24565.
