Lynch Station……Carrol Dudley "Night Owl" Meador, age 92 of Lynch Station died Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Autumn Care of Altavista.

Born February 9, 1931 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late George Minter Meador and Evelyn St. Clair Meador. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Cundiff Meador; two brothers, John Marvin Meador and George Melvin Meador; and one sister, Christine Meador Trent. Mr. Meador was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a life member of DAV Chapter #46. He was a member of Mount Herman United Methodist Church and a member of the Altavista Moose Lodge. Mr. Meador retired from the Lane Company after 43 years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking and beekeeping. He also enjoyed CB radios, thus the nickname, "Night Owl."

He is survived by one sister-in-law, Theron Meador of Bedford; one half brother, Johnny Meador of Lexington, North Carolina; one half sister, Nora Anderson of Lexington, North Carolina; two nephews, Mike Cundiff (Rhonda) of Altavista and Stan Finch (Sandra) of Altavista; five nieces, Carol McCartney of North Carolina, Kathy C. Levy (Paul) of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, Debbie Lineberry (Trevor) of Moneta, Teressa Wood (Troy Payne) of Bedford and Lisa Manspile (Ralph) of Roanoke; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and their families; and his beloved cat, "Ollie."

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Brady Willis. Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
