Chatham…..Carlton (Collie) Grayson Shelton, age 74 of 19432 US Highway 29, Chatham, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 after an extended illness at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born October 28, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Ewell W. Shelton, Sr. and Mary Huffman Shelton. He was predeceased by four brothers, Harold Shelton, Haile Shelton, Ewell Shelton, Jr., and Ramsey Shelton; and three sisters, Mary Vosburg, Ora Mann, and Nannie Shields. Mr. Shelton was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He was a farmer, and retired from Ennis Business Forms.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda S. Shelton of the residence; one daughter, Alicia Shelton Matherly of Hurt; and one sister, Virginia Lewis of Gretna.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Harold Thornton, and Rev. R.G. Rowland. A private burial will follow at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, and other times will be at the residence.
