Hurt.........Carlene Owen Crews, age 82 of Hurt passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 23, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Billy Isaac Owen and Edith Blair Owen Irby.  She was predeceased by a brother, William Blair Owen; a sister, J'Nell Cotton; and a son-in-law, Eddie Hamlett.  Mrs. Crews was a member of Round Pond Baptist Church and she retired from Piedmont Manufacturing.  She enjoyed gardening, animals and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Avert "Buddy" Crews of the residence; one son, Michael Crews and wife, Susan of Hurt; four daughters, Dianna Hamlett of Gretna, Ellen Brumfield and husband, Gary of Lynch Station, Carol Cantarero of North Carolina and Rebecca Parker and husband, Mike of Marathon, FL; one brother, Wayne Owen and wife, Vicki of Gretna; two sisters, Billie Jane Goodman and husband, Roger of Gretna and Patricia Blair of Hurt; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Chapel Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
