Gretna…..Carl Corbin Wilson, age 78 of 2620 Piney Grove Road, Gretna died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born August 1, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late John Wesley Wilson and Lottie Waller Wilson. He was predeceased by five brothers, Jack Wilson, Wesley Wilson, Doc Wilson, Grover Wilson, and Oscar Wilson; and two sisters, Gertrude Wilson, and Sylvia Throckmorton. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Java Church of God of Prophecy, and retired from BGF Industries after 43 years. He loved gardening, tinkering on small motors, working in blackberry vineyards, and singing in church. Mr. Wilson really enjoyed meeting people, and had special feelings towards all his dialysis friends.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Geraldine Meadows Wilson of the residence; two daughters, Sheila Motley and her husband, Wayne of Chatham, and Lisa Edwards and her husband, Danny of Rustburg; and three grandchildren, Jarrett Motley and his wife, Donna, Colby Edwards, and Chandler Edwards.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Java Church of God of Prophecy by Rev. Edward Pope, and Rev. Gary Vernon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Java Church of God of Prophecy, and other times will be at the residence.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Doctors and staff at Lynchburg General Hospital, and to the Altavista and Lynchburg Dialysis Centers.
